Rodrick Evangelist
Project Engineer, 3 years of service

Rodrick EvangelistRodrick is a Project Engineer for the Special Projects department. For two years Rodrick has led the annual Trolley Tunnel Blitz project, wherein all trolley tunnels in Center City are shut down for over a week while crews work around the clock completing critical track, power, maintenance, and station work.

"Prior to coming to SEPTA, I was a highway designer, and I just wanted to do something different. I wanted to do transit, so I looked at SEPTA and there were great opportunities, so I came here and I've been loving it ever since."

Lorna Haley
Occupational Health Nurse, 23 years of service

Lorna HaleyLorna has followed her passions as they have evolved, and working at a large organization like SEPTA has allowed her to hold five strikingly different positions over her 23 year career: Bus Operator, Millwright, Elevator/Escalator Specialist, Elevator/Escalator Maintenance Manager/Instructor, and now Occupational Health Nurse. While working full time as an Elevator/Escalator Specialist, Lorna earned her nursing degree from Thomas Jefferson University, all while being a single mother raising two children. Lorna is also a true trailblazer, being the first woman to ever hold a given position at SEPTA not just once, but three times.

"It's been a great ride! Also, I don't have any intentions on stopping here! What's next? I don't know; however, I know it'll be great!"

Bob Toomer
Director, Station Operations, 30 years of service

Lorna HaleyBob Toomer is the Director of Station Operations for the Broad Street Line. He began his career at SEPTA in 1987 working as a Trolley Operator and has since taken on different roles throughout the system.

"When I became a manger I would always position myself at a busy station during load line with the intention to assist or answer questions. A large portion of my work day is spent in the field so when I’m walking around town or in a station one of the first things I look at is the station maps. If I see people looking at it I always approach and I say: Hello, do you need any help? "

Melissa Cooper
Engineering Manager, 12 years of service

Melissa CooperMelissa is an Engineering Manager and Registered Architect who built her career at SEPTA after being hired just out of school. She has managed several major projects for the Authority, including the Hub of Hope in Suburban Station and Ardmore Avenue Station on the Norristown High Speed Line.

"It's really a good place to grow. Right from day one, you're basically a project manager and you are just completely immersed in whatever projects they give you, and you really get to see it through from start to finish."
