Effective September 1, 2018: PA Issued Senior Citizen Transit ID Cards No Longer Accepted for Travel & $1.00 Fare for Regional Rail Travel to Stations in Pennsylvania Eliminated
With the full transition of the SEPTA Key fare system, starting September 1st, PA issued Senior Citizen Transit ID Cards will NOT BE VALID FOR TRAVEL on SEPTA.
The following will be the only valid forms of ID:
Senior Citizen (65 years old or older)
Senior Citizen Discount Ticket Redemption Policy
Effective September 1, 2018
SEPTA currently offers a discounted fare of $1.00, for Senior Citizens to pay for Regional Rail travel. In addition, SEPTA offers Senior Ten Trip Tickets at a further discounted rate of $8.50 ($.85 per ticket) for travel to/from stations in Pennsylvania with a valid Senior ID.
Effective September 1, 2018, SEPTA will eliminate the $1.00 cash fare/$.85 Senior Ticket fare for Senior Travel on Regional Rail in Pennsylvania. The Half Fare Charges will remain in effect for Senior Travel on Regional Rail to/from stations in New Jersey and Delaware. Customers holding unused pre-purchased discounted Senior Ten Trip Tickets can obtain a refund by mailing the original tickets (no photocopies) along with their mailing address to SEPTA at:

All Senior Tickets purchased within one year of the redemption date will be refunded at the rate of $0.85 per ticket and must be returned and postmarked prior to December 31, 2018. Customers are asked to allow at least 12 weeks for processing.
